TO HELP THE SILENT SUFFERERS BY SHARING OUR STORY

A 60 MINUTE DOCUMENTARY - "A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY SURVIVOR"

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY SURVIVOR A Project of Documentaries

THERE IS LIFE STILL YET TO BE LIVED. DON'T GIVE UP!

I AM A TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY SURVIVOR

I am a Traumatic Brain Injury Survivor. Which ultimately means, I still suffer from invisible disabilities. Life for me, on a daily basis, can be extremely difficult. The purpose for this documentary, is because we want to help people overcome these difficulties, by providing positive feedback and to also let those suffering to know that we care. We might not be able to change the symptoms, but we can help provide a light at the end of a very dark tunnel. Far too many have committed suicide, due to this type of injury. Our goal is to prevent further harm to a survivor. We might not ever be "normal" in terms of who and how we used to be before our injuries. But we can go on to lead full and productive lives, if we just give ourselves the chance.

MY DREAM

I suffered a severe injury that changed the course of my life forever. I was critically injured in the early 90's with a brain injury. I survived, but not without difficulities. My dream is to help people to not give up. My dream is to lower the suicide rate. My dream is to help people understand that eventhough they have these injuries, or disabilities, or perhaps even overweight or whatever causes them saddness, is to help them understand that they still have potential and self worth. I wrote a 5 volume series based on what I went through. We are in pre-production of the first film (still trying to raise the funds). But on a smaller scale, we are filming a short documentary on, "A Day in the Life of a Traumatic Brain Injury Survivor." this documentary, is to show the reality of living with TBI, but also to show that even with these issues, one can still go on to lead a productive and happy life. I purposely did not say, "normal." People with TBI will never be the normal they once were, before their injury. So, we have to learn a new way to live. Which to the people around us, we are abnormal. Families and friends go through a great deal of stress having to get use to the "new us." This is why this documentary is so valid and incredibly important. My dream is to be able to make the world of TBI and those with suicidal thoughts a much happier world (THEIR WORLD) to live in. We just need funds to be able to shoot this documentary, market and distribute it. God Bless You and thank you so much for your support.

I AM AN ADULT FIGURE SKATER/COACH LIVING WITH TBI

I AM AN AUTHOR/SCREENPLAY WRITER & PRODUCER LIVING WITH TBI

I am not going to say it is, "Easy." I am going to say that if I can accomplish what I am, then you can also inspite of the adversities, can also go on to fulfill your God given potential. I am not gonna lie, I tried to commit suicide after my injury. I felt worthless. I did not understand my symptons:

COGNITIVE

Memory loss; sensory overload ( I would run out of grocery stores); impulsiveness

LANGUAGE PROCESSING

Difficulty speaking

SENSORY/PHYSICAL PARALYSIS/SPASTICITY

Chronic pain; Difficulties with interpretation of touch/feeling (I lost feeling in the entire left side of my body, hands and feet); temperature - being able to feel heat (example - if the stove burners are on, I can't tell until I am burnt); diminshed sense of smell

HEARING

Loss or decrease of hearing (mostly in my right ear)

EMOTIONAL

Dependent behavior; emotional overload

All I wanted was for the pain to stop. So, one evening I decided I was going to end it...permanently. I had my right leg over our 3rd story balcony and my intention was to go over head first. All I could think about was how much of a relief it would be to never feel the agony ever again. As I was starting to bring my left leg over the railing, the phone rang. My first thought, "It was one of my kids and they needed me." Yes! I was very irrational. But none the less, I climbed back down and went to answer the phone. It was a friend of mine screaming, "What ever it is you are about to do, don't. God told me to tell you, "It will get better."

THIS IS THE PHONE RINGING.

WE WANT TO TELL THE WORLD, "IT WILL GET BETTER."
